I recently spent two weeks exploring South Korea. Here are seven discoveries that surprised me (and might surprise you too).
1. Embrace the Hanbok
Dressing up in Hanbok, beautiful traditional Korean clothing, is encouraged for everyone. It’s a fun way to immerse yourself in the culture, plus you get free admission to Seoul’s palaces.
2. Iced Americano Nation
Koreans love their iced americanos, served in supersized cups all day long.
3. Follow the Pink Line
Forget complicated directions: car navigation often tells you to follow the coloured lines painted conveniently on the road.
4. Navigation with ratings
South Korea has a surprising love affair with The Little Prince. Look out for merchandise, murals, and even a museum dedicated to the famous book.
5. Le Petit Prince
South Korea has a surprising love affair with The Little Prince. Look out for merchandise, murals, and even a museum dedicated to the famous book.
6. Push to open
Sliding doors are everywhere, but they only open when you press a button. No motion sensors allowed?
7. Skewers with Shears
Street food vendors serve meat skewers with pruning shears. It’s a functional (and fun) way to cut your skewer down after a few bites.
